You Spin Me Right Round

round again this demising light
gradually spinning from my sight
turning darker to darkest night
one lesser world to the other tied
now subject to the others pride

it’s said when the allure is real
matters not this obverted appeal
yet magnified outward distraction
charms with centripetal attraction
pulling towards an orbital steal

the bond becomes power
and you will gravitate in
waxing light has its hour
till in the dark once again

this experienced direction
will not reverse
there’s no intersection
or vice versa

this is adopted, adapted
becomes habit
or contracted
addiction needs fix
a mentality of inferiority
that superiority inflicts

you seek renewal
from what’s begot
thru with being the fool
yet when what you’ve sought
does abide to eschew
you just circle around
and seek it anew

if seeking the estranged
fearing uncertainty of change
what is certain,
unchanged
certainty’s deranged

there’s no evolving
just revolving
around and again
reflection’s in vain
with every wax also wane
surrendering your light
an eclipsed satellite

hypnotized by the prize
transfixed are your eyes
a denied ball n chain
jangling a futile refrain
centrifugally caught
from a distance held taut
on a servile tether
nugatory, nether
circling forever

About Scott Schoffstall

I'm a relatively new poet having started in earnest 11/2010. I have sought the authentic and am still on that quest. I've diverged from the norm yet always reached for the universal. My interests were always beyond the here and now. Beyond the taste, touch, smell, hear, see. Where the mind and the spirit transcend the physical. They say perception is reality. Is it? Are we truly all there is?
