un

you wake upon you
and the sun marks your days

an aura becomes
a child

as that brilliant orb streaks the sky
each trek takes its greed upon you
and finds its mark

the child was auroral
and stood out, shone
being
that could hold transfixed
to all known

resplendent among them
they behold but covet
that essence, golden
within

they ascend—you radiate
enervate,
dim

once you align
singularity—emits
thru them and burns to them
and does not return
but assumes the singularity

that orb continues its greed upon you
and now the days hasten
and the nights are sold
they cannot be bargained back

you cannot be a part without them
you cannot be apart without them
you must fuse to be one
you must refuse to be one
with each aligning, consigning—dispel

and now upon that orb’s most fleeting
it finds no mark
to cast shadow upon the earth

About Scott Schoffstall

I'm a relatively new poet having started in earnest 11/2010. I have sought the authentic and am still on that quest. I've diverged from the norm yet always reached for the universal. My interests were always beyond the here and now. Beyond the taste, touch, smell, hear, see. Where the mind and the spirit transcend the physical. They say perception is reality. Is it? Are we truly all there is?
